Well, of the ones I've read from your 1%, you've picked some good ones. Barbara Kingsolver is one of my favorite authors, and The Shining, Never Let Me Go, and Lolita are all good reads. If you can find it, I recommend the audiobook of Lolita - Jeremy Irons does an excellent job as Humbert Humbert.
Thanks for the suggestion, I will look for Lolita next month. I just read an article that The Shining is his best novel ever so I thought I would give it a try. I have tried to read The Poisonwood Bible a few times and haven't gotten into it so I thought this would give me the push.
The Poisonwood Bible is one of my favorite "required reads" - Adah is a fantastic narrator.
As for The Shining, I still need to read the full version. I've only read the cut that King published before he was a big name. I've heard the full novel is far better.
Haha, now my family's question doesn't look so bad! Personally, I wouldn't encourage anyone to have children if they didn't want them. Children are a great deal of work and too many people have them irresponsibly. You can always get divorced, but kids are irreversible.
I agree. My husband's uncle patted my stomach the last time I saw him to see where the baby was. Unbelievable! I laugh about it because he means no harm. I would love to have children but sometimes it just takes longer for some people.
we're sharing a couple of books in common...look forward to your thoughts! :)
Thanks for the link to the 1% Challenge. I have been trying to make myself reach out and select some of these - since i have to read 35 a year from now til I die to finish them all - HAHAHA - 10 is a good place to start!

I thought 10 was a good starting point. I struggled with selecting the 10 though!
