Happy Mother's Day everyone! This will be a very short post today as it has not been a productive reading week. I gave up on listening to Outlander. I hope that this is one I will enjoy reading because I have read so many good things about it. I just did not like the narrator's voice!
I did manage to read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll. One of my coworkers is obsessed with Alice and having never read it I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about. I enjoyed it but still don't understand the obsession!
I am currently reading Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. My mom recommended this to me after reading it for her book club. So far so good, I am not far enough in to really have an opinion yet. I started Middlemarch, got to Part II and have not picked it up again.
This will be a busy week for me work wise so I am not sure how much reading I will actually get done. I have a few Early Reviewer books I am waiting for and have to review so those will be moved up.
Short and sweet today. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!

You can check my review of Alice in Wonderland and we can exchange links. It is on my review list of 2007!
I've read Alice several times and still don't understand what all the fuss is about. :)
Sometimes I think the Alice in Wonderland thing is propagated by the Disney movie and other forms of media than the actual BOOKS. Though I have never personally read them. I have read Alice's Adventures Underground which I thought was really cute.
I love the 'Alice' books especially when read in conjunction with some understanding of the context in which they were written. However, like the rest of you I don't understand the obsession that some people have. I have a PhD student whose home is filled with all things Alice. I'm always worried when I go round there for tea it will be being served by The Mad Hatter!
I think the "Alice" books are probably my favorite books of all time – I'm always a little shocked to find someone doesn't like them! But then, I first read them when I was not much more than a toddler, so they've been with me for quite a while. And I believe the Tenniel illustrations have a lot to do with it, too. I've collected many versions of the books over the years, but those first books with Sir John's drawings are definitely the most glorious.
gautami - I will send you a link as soon as I write my review for Alice. Thanks for the offer to exchange links!
julie- I didn't get it either!
megan - I agree with you on the Disney connection. I think I would feel differently if I had read this as a child.
table talk - that is my friend! She has Alice "stuff" everywhere. She has a collection of Alice teapots and salt and pepper shakers.
jlshall - I did enjoy the book and the illustrations. I just don't understand this obsession that people have with Alice. Maybe if I had read it when I was younger I would feel differently and have that type of connection to it.
