I was inspired to check my monthly progress for June from Naida over at The Bookworm. June was somewhat of a disappointment, with only 5 books read. That bring my total to 36 books for 2008. I was hoping that I would surpass 50 which I most likely will but not by much. I was on a very good pace until Summer hit! Anyway, here is my June recap:
Blackwave by John and Jean Silverwood
Songs for the Missing by Stewart O'Nan
The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson
The Dangerous Joys of Dr. Sex and Other True Stories by Pagan Kennedy
Matrimony by Joshua Henkin
I have been very fortunate to receive many books this month and now need to kick my reading up a notch! I have about 50 pages left of The White Mary so hopefully I can sneak that in before July officially begins.

Be not discouraged! There will be lower reading months and higher reading months. You're well over half way to fifty already. You'll get there.
I know how the end-of-the-month doldrums feel. But still, you're moving toward your goal, and, most importantly, reading!! Thanks for blogging. (http://thebluestockings.com)
36 books in 2008 is great. you'll get to 50, and even if you don't you'll have fun reading.
I know what you mean, I read less during the summer too...mostly because I'm usually outdoors more. I dont know if I'll make my goal this year, but I've read some awesome books so far.
enjoy your reading!

Personally, I don't think it should be about the quantity of books a person reads anyway. Shouldn't it be about quality? I mean, yes, I'm in a 100+ book challenge, but I'm "only" at 39 for the year, with "only" eight in the month of June. Should I be depressed? I don't think so and I'm not. I'm just glad for the books I have read so far, and you should be too. Some people don't even read a book a year, let alone 36 for the year.
Appropriately in June, I turned 39. I feel a post coming. ;)
Hope you're enjoying "The White Mary". Looks like its gotten mixed reviews so far :)
**Seen my latest giveaway? It's "Aberrations" by Penelope Przekop. Comment here.
Literatehousewife - Thanks for the encouragement! I am feeling guilty over the amount of books that I have to review and am not getting to them in a timely manner.
Thebluestockingsociety - thanks for stopping by my blog. I honestly felt like I read more than I did.
Naida - thanks for the encouragement.
Justareadingfool - Happy Birthday! I know it's quality over quantity. I have read some really long books this year which slowed me down a bit but I'll keep going! Isn't it sad that some people don't even read one book a year?
kbookreviews - I read one glowing review and a few bad ones. I really enjoyed it, I have about 50 pages left. It was a quick read. I'll have a review up later this week. Thanks for stopping by!
You can DO IT!!!
I also read Songs for the Missing and The Gargoyle last month. SftM was about 3 stars, but The Gargoyle was AWESOME! I tell everyone I know, and some people I don't about it. Which book was your fav in June?
koolaidmom - My favorite was The Gargoyle. I loved it. When I explain it to people they look at me as if I have lost my mind. I agree, Songs for the Missing was only about 3 stars.
