The Blogging World

Well if you can believe it I really have no idea what I am doing on this blog or any other blog for that matter. I am embarrassed to say that this is all new to me. I have not had time to really put my arms around this so I am jumping right in.

I have been visiting several blogs today to see how they "set" their sites up and have come across several contests and challenges. Are these contests legitimate? I understand that a blog is pretty much an online journal. Now I have to figure out how to go about searching for blogs and listing some that I have enjoyed reading.

This is going to be an adventure!

I have been reading some posts on the group boards and now see it is inappropriate to list blog lists without permission from the owner, is this true? If so then I apologize for listing your blog on my site without permission.

Hi Erin!

This is Amy from the The Friendly Book Nook.

A lot of times bloggers hold contests to stir up some interest in their blog. Mine are all legit, though it does at times take me awhile to mail the books out! Thanks for stopping by our blog today!

Hi Erin,

My book raffles are also legit. I am so glad that you took the time to visit. As far as a "blogroll" or list of blogs you visit, I have never heard that you need the blog owners permission to link it on your site. Feel free to link to mine if you choose. Take care!

Hi! Welcome to the wonderful world of book blogging! I've just been up for six months and this is an amazing community that you will love! Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I look forward to watching yours grow.

All of my raffles are legit as well and I haven't heard that you need permission to link over to another's blog. In fact, they'll probably appreciate it.

Thanks for the comment, that was quick! I look forward to reading more of your reviews in the next few days.

Hi, Erin! And welcome to the blogging world! This is Lezlie from Books 'N Border Collies. I haven't had any raffles, but feel free to link my site if you wish! In the meantime, it looks like you have a great start. Your list of what you've read this year looks like we have some similar reading tastes.

Have a great time!

Hi Lezlie, thanks for the comments. I was just on your site and love the pic of the dogs. My mom has a rescued border collie, Molly who spends a lot of time at my house.

I am almost finished with World Without End and noticed you read it, what did you think of it?

Skye and Max say, "Thanks!" :-) Skye is also a rescue. They're great, aren't they? I liked "World Without End", but it's not as good as "Pillars of the Earth".

Well, I have to admit that Molly has major separation issues but seems to be very fond of me. She is a great dog and a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we do not do any agility with her but she loves to chase the squirels.

I read Pillars of the Earth and loved it and jumped right into World Without End. I am listening to this one and loving it also. The narrator has such a lovely voice. Much more violence in this one. I was not sure how I would like the audio version of it because it is so long (43 hours) but I do a LOT of driving so I wiped it out in 2 1/2 weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. I wish there was a third book. :(

I just started blogging myself. My friend runs contests on her blog and I know she's legit.

I don't think you need permission to link to another's webpage. I'm always happy when I see my page linked on someone else's page. It means someone is reading!

Enjoy!

PS I'll link you on my page!

I did World Without End via audiobook also. I *love* audiobooks!!! I have a nasty commute that would be intolerable without them.

My contests are legit (I've only done one plus the one I'm currently doing). I think it's just a way to get more readers.

I add to my blogroll all the time without asking permission. I've only been blogging since September, so maybe there's some sort of protocol to follow that I'm not aware of, but I'm pretty sure that people appreciate it any time they are linked on other blogs.

I like your blog a lot! Ok if I add you to my blogroll? LOL
